Insurance Types

Jul 1 • 1 minute read

Choosing a dental plan can be overwhelming and confusing.  There are two common types of dental plans:  Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO).  In a PPO, dentists may be in- network or out-of-network.  If in- network, the dentist has agreed to provide services for set fees agreed upon with the insurance provider.   In a DHMO, in- network dentists are paid a set fee every month for providing services regardless if patients receive treatment that month.  It is important to ask your dentist which option would be the most advantageous.
